Parkview Singapore announces the launch of Parkview Museum, a new art space that aims to enrich the local art scene and to provide an international platform for artistic expression and popularisation of contemporary art in Singapore. Located in Parkview Square and occupying an area of 1,400 square meters, with a ceiling height of seven metres, the brand new space was conceived to host exhibitions focusing on contemporary art with an alternation between solo shows and thematic group exhibitions. Parkview Museum opens during Singapore Art Week 2017 with ‘On Sharks and Humanity’, a global travelling art exhibition addressing shark protection and ocean conservation. The environmentally focused exhibition presents a variety of art forms in a multifaceted, multidisciplinary showcase. Featuring artists from Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany and the United States, the exhibition explores the interdependent relationship between sharks, the ocean, and human beings, challenging prevailing prejudices surrounding this deeply feared creature, bringing to light the importance of sharks in the marine ecosystem and the negative impact of unsustainable fishing.
